Prabhosa is about a kilometer from Kosambi in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Buddha spent his 6th rain retreat at Prabhosa but did not give religious discourses. Chinese Pilgrim, Hieun Tsang visited this place in the 7th century AD and mentioned about a stupa constructed by Emperor Ashoka. But none of the Buddhist antiquities can be found here today. There are caves and rock shelters in Prabhosa. The largest cave now called as Sita's Window, was probably where the Buddha stayed during his visit.
