| Kye (Ki) Monastery is the only majestic monastery of Himachal Pradesh. It attracts a huge number of Buddhist pilgrimages to this quiet locale. Here life starts with a new beginning; Kye (Ki) Monastery in Spiti valley makes your visit meaningful and successful. It’s a huge splendid structure, looks more like a fort, than a monastery. The structure of this monastery does not look systematic as it seems that in successive time, many temples have been added on top of the existing one. Kye is festooned with some extra ordinary scriptures and paintings of Buddha and other gods and goddesses.
The monastery is also a centre for religious tradition to Lamas (the Tibetan Monks). It’s a perfect place for Lamas practice. Dance, sing and play on pipes and horns are subject of attraction of the place. It has a wide collection of prehistoric murals and books of elevated aesthetic value. This monastery is an ideal place for visitors as it offers the monastic architectural symbol to its visitors. During 17th century, the Kye monastery was attacked by the Mongols and suffered 3 more invaders in 19th century. The consecutive trails of destruction and construction of jobs have effected in a haphazard growth of box-like structures, and thus complex now resembles a protective fort. Today, the monastery signifies as a training center for Lamas.
